Helping schools consider children.

Our services

The team at bloom! offers in-service professional development and mentoring. Through our work, we help teachers improve child outcomes by aligning their practices with the developmental needs of children.

Our approach

Our mentoring enables teachers to consistently view education through the lens of child development, and skillfully use academics, interactions, and school culture to provoke educational experiences aligned with children’s learning goals and capacities.

This results in children’s mastery of academic skills and intellectual knowledge crucial for independence, self-awareness, problem-solving, innovation, and community membership.

What children need

We think Cantor and Osher said it best in The Science of Learning and Development : Enhancing the Lives of All Young People.

“Positive development relationships are characterized by warmth, consistency, attunement, reciprocity, and joint activity, including the sharing and transfer of power and the scaffolding of learning.”

Children need adults who see them, not just their actions, but also their thoughts, ideas, questions, perceptions, and feelings.

Children need adults who will walk alongside them as they navigate the discovery of their inner self and make sense of the world around them.

The adult’s response, in harmony to the child’s unique way of acquiring knowledge, creates a symphony of interactions and experiences conducive to maturity.
